Abstract

• January 2021, the combined inflation of 5 CPI cities in South Sulawesi was 0.29 percent or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.38 to 105.68 in January 2021. Of the 5 CPI cities, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Makassar City at 0.31 percent and the lowest occurred in Bulukumba at 0.07 percent.
• Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most of the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.17 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.01 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group of 0.05 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.06 percent; health group by 0.30 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.01 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.01 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.09 percent and the personal care and other services group by 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, one expenditure group experienced deflation, namely the transportation group at 0.75 percent.
• The calendar year inflation rate is 0.29 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2021 against January 2020) is 1.70 percent.
