Rice Cropping Survey: Measuring Productivity, Building Food Security
One of the important efforts in obtaining reliable agricultural data is through the Cropping Survey, which collects average rice production data directly from paddy fields that are entering the harvest phase.
Through the measurement method on a sample plot measuring 2.5 x 2.5 meters, the yield data obtained is the basis for calculating rice productivity per hectare. Meanwhile, information on the harvest area is obtained through observation of Area Sampling Frame (ASF) points using Android-based technology.
Along with the times, ubinan data collection is now shifting from manual methods (PAPI) to digital methods (CAPI), in order to encourage efficiency, accuracy, and speed in data provision.
The implementation of this survey takes place throughout the year in three subrounds, adjusting to the planting and harvest seasons. The hope is that every data point collected can become a solid foothold in formulating agricultural policies that favor farmers, and support the achievement of national food self-sufficiency.
